Whitney Zatzkin

Whitney Bowman-Zatzkin, MPA, MSR, is a passionate community architect obsessed with connecting the dots across communities to provoke change for the greater good.
She is the CEO of Rare Dots, Inc. through which she dedicates energy to Adoption Share and Kaiser Permanente’s Transformation Accelerator as well as roles as the strategic lead for community, communications, facilitation, and events including Project Baseline, Measure What Matters, and the National Quality Forum. She serves as the chair of a charitable pharmacy in Northern Virginia.
Whitney started in healthcare 18 years ago as the manager of a clinical practice, launching its EHR, redesigning the obstetrics patient record, and engaging in state-level advocacy efforts around maternal-infant health and malpractice reform. Moving to DC, she collaborated with policy leaders and advocates to conduct research and enact policy changes around health professions education and health workforce team design.
In the past, she has served as the Managing Director of Flip the Clinic, a project of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Co-PI for Scouting Health, an investigative horizon-hunting effort partnered with Westat. She also led the Great Challenges at TEDMED, producing more than 50 broadcasts on the toughest conversations in health care and expanding the online community to more than 300,000 people and supported the launch and formation of the Digital Therapeutics Alliance. A proud alumni of the space and aviation programs, she was a founding member of the Space Camp Alumni Association Board.
Additional projects featuring her work include VitalCrowd, CPESN, Access our Medicine – a project of Mindset Foundation, and Script your Future, a grassroots medication adherence project, where she was commended by the U.S. Surgeon General and multiple Members of Congress.
Whitney has a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Survey Research from the University of Connecticut, her research on health insurance models and policies was awarded Best Capstone and her current research is regularly published. Driven to see music in every classroom, Whitney serves on the Associates Board at the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts. Recognizing the spark of curiosity created from her own early exposure to STEM and the sciences, she serves on the Advisory Board of Higher Orbits.
