Kate McKinney

Kate McKinney is a student at the College of William and Mary in Virginia, where she’s working towards degrees in neuroscience and applied physiology. A former CubeLab biological systems intern at Lexington-based payload company Space Tango, Kate has a passion for all things space – including STEM & space education. A former Go For Launch! participant herself, she has worked with organizations across the U.S. to bring science to students of all ages, even starting up the only 501c(3) in the U.S. run entirely by students in 2015. Since then, she’s had the opportunity to join and represent many amazing organizations, including the Mars Generation, the Kentucky Girls STEM Collaborative, and many other local groups. Kate spends most of her time not in school doing research, where she focuses on cellular biochemistry and neurobiology related to exercise – hoping that this information may one day used to help astronauts on long-duration space missions.
